"Just wanted to share with everyone an experience we had from a side effect of droperidol. Apparently it can cause muscular dystonia that usually manifests in the face (as in a facial tick or eye dystonia). The treatment is benztropine 1 mg IV. It is in our IV DRUG ADMINISTRATIONS GUIDELINES binder. We had a pt that this happened to and obviously had never seen this side effect before. I just wanted to share with everyone this experience so we can keep track of it see how often it happens, or even if it does happen again."
